Little lady.
We met our new roommate this weekend.
The interview was a little one-sided, as she is the quiet type.
She smiled a lot.
She panted.
She carried a tennis ball in her mouth and even took a memorable dump in our backyard.
We were able to overlook these tendencies due to her soft coat and extreme cuddleocity.
We’ll be welcoming our new roommate at the end of the week.

What a tiny little husky! Clocking in at 39 pounds she works just fine in our little house.

James avoids her breath, no offense, new roommate, but you’re going to need some dental care lessons.

Nope, we have no treats
(she kept asking)

We weren’t previously prone to them but now are affected by “The Cute Attack.”
Also, she’s currently without a name.
And she asked us, as her new roommates, what her name should be.
As we had lots of boy names picked out (we were expecting a boy roommate) and no girl names, we’re asking you, the internet, what should we call our new roommate?
Naturally, it doesn’t have to be a girl name.
(I had offered Sue, Judy and Janet but James was oddly unreceptive)
As we were patient to find the right pooch, and believe we have, we’re patient to find the right name.
And here I thought Judy had such a ring to it…

What a beautiful dog. Thank you for rescuing! Daisy? Kinda girly for a Husky, but one of my all time favorite dog names.
Miss Husky McHuskalot.
Lovely creature. Congrats! Girl dogs are the best, IMHO. We have a Daisy (mutt from the local shelter) and it *is* a good name, as Bendy suggests. Others: Shadow or Misty (on accounta that beautiful grayish coat). Tasha. Emma. Galadriel (“Gal” for short). Possum (again, the fur).
Enjoy her. – Anne
Beautiful – she looks like an Isabel (or Isabelle) to me!
On 2nd thought, I think you may have named her yourself:
“Lady.” She looks like one.

ethel. or edith. or mabel. or mavis.
or maybe those are cat names?
xoxo, jared
Jared, I love Edith, Ethel, Mabel and Mavis with the heat of many burning hot fires, this is fun!
Harriet.
Or maybe Mathilda.
(My dog is Maude…)
Patricia…Patty for short? My friend called her house Patricia. She also had a VW bus named Vanessa.
What about Louise?
I could play this game all day long.
Now that I think about it, Harriet may not work. I always envision a wirey sort of gal with that name. But if you love it….
sophia, hadley, graciela, peaola
I wanted a female golden retriever so I could call her Sasha when we went looking for dogs to rescue. We couldn’t go past a feisty little terrier crossed with jack russell and named him Riley….so the name Sasha is up for grabs if you want it!
Here’s a list of Alaska-related dog names, in case you want to go the ethnic route:
http://www.dogomania.com/names/origin/Alaska.shtml
Kaya, Sakari and Shika are pretty…
How about “Varna” as in “Husky Varna” — very Wisconsin sounding… conjures up chainsaws and snowmobiles
she’s precious! huskies are siberian aren’t they? growing up, some family friends had a black siberian husky (whom i loved dearly) named natasha…

Welcome to Sibe parenting. Make sure your walking/running shoes are in good shape! Hope you can find a good fenced-in dog park nearby, too.
How about Ani?
Oh, little nameless puppy, you’ve hit the jackpot with your new family! Your Mom makes fantastic food, and I bet your Dad will sneak you scraps under the table. You will be Puppy Loved-a-Lot, in true Care Bear fashion.
As for names, I’m in a semi uncreative mood, but “S” names are always good…I like the aforementioned Sascha and also Edith (Edie for short).
You sure you don’t want to go with Mr. Stevens, i.e., Cat, who converted?

Sasha?
I have been waiting for this!
Shes so cute and looks like my old dog, Lando…
Hmmm, names…Rhonda, Rhoda, Kona…Thats all I can think of right now, but Im sure you have enough to choose from by now!
have fun…dogs are a blast.
I happen to log on today and saw the question. Well, I do have two names that come to mind.
The first, someone already surfaced Lola. I like it because she looks like a Mexican dog that bit me years ago. I could sing the classic, “her name is Lola, she was a chola!”
The second, a classic Hish School name JO-ANGI. I would call her JO-mama-ANGI-o-daddy-too.
You two crack me up!
I always wanted a husky and I would name her Jasmine and call her Jazz. I think it goes well with your new home and wine country lifestyle! No matter what you name her, make sure to give her lots of love!
Shayna. It means pretty in yiddish
Wow! Keep ‘em coming!
James and I have used a bunch of your suggestions and have a growing short list of names that we’ll keep on the refrigerator.
(We need to see if she actually ‘fits’ the name, you see)
It’s clear to me that she’s Zelda or maybe Trudy.
just an “FYI” that the names i suggested are all names i’m considering for maude’s replacment (god forbid!). i thought about “maude 2″, but now i’m leaning towards edith or mabel.
i read somewhere about some guy naming his dog kevin. i thought that was pretty cool. i’ll bet kevin’s a stoner…
xoxo, jared
Hee hee.
Along the Kevin line, I also like Seth.
Have you seen this:

They have a lot of cool names.
I always wanted a huskey and name ‘em “Nanook”… not sure of the spelling but I loved The Lost Boys movie.
I could suggest all day… I love names… currently we have three cats that used to be stray and adopted us: Gwydion (he’s very knightly), Mordred (he’s been living with us since kittenhood and has never let us touch him but he’ll sit and stare at you at arms length and likes watching from the shadows), and Shishi Gami (she does this thing with her fluffy body that looks like the deer god in Princess Mononoki when he’s changing shape).
My husband wanted to name all of them “Toke.” Go figure.
You should get all postmodern on her and name her “Dog”.
It sounds like your new roommate will be treated as a member of your family, and I think that if that’s the case, you should stick with human names. For me, it’s hard to relate to a dog as a family member when he/she is named Scruffles, Bon Bon, or Mr. Foofah. I prefer names that your great aunt would be jealous of; case in point, our chocolate lab is named Edith.
Also, girl dogs are great, you will be so happy to have one! Congratulations.
She’s beatiful! I have dog named LOLA and can attest that it is an awesome name to yell out the backdoor to get her to come inside. Also, many songs can be sung to her, weird-al-yankovic style, with that name. Of course, “copacabana” is a favorite at our house.
Also, I’ve always loved DIOGI (say it like D.O.G.). Best of luck with your new family member.

Rita
Finn
Zoe
Fandango
Ellie Mae
Delilah

how about sophia?
Olive.
Flo.
Louise (mainly so you could call her “Weezy”).
Jason, Caleb, or Tab. I just love biblical names
I love her! And I love people who love dogs! Here’s a couple: Lola, Billie, Mika (pronounced Meeka), Rosie . . .
What a pretty puppy.
I know a dainty Dalmation named Daisy and a cute little black lab named Mabel. I nominate these as the two best girl-dog names ever. Although those Alaskan names seemed pretty cool too. Congrats on the addition to your family!!
Just because she’s a girl does not mean you are stuck with girly names. I have a girl-dog named Punk (which is kind of gender-neutral) and people always seem to love her name. I think dogs kind of name themselves, so let her hang with you a bit and you’ll know what works. She is so cute – have fun!
One more… Tilda
Our friend Jeff had a beautiful blue-eyed husky whose name was Ghengis. (I think it was a boy-dog, though.)
