Resolvations 2009 – Recap
I only made a few resolutions last year:
I’m hoping to do a few things during 2009:
Make new friends.
Make more time for existing friends.
FAIL for the second one, kicked ass at the first one.
I made lots of new friends and am so grateful for it.
Yay! New contacts and pals and neighbors!
Sadly, though, I miss my other friends. I haven’t had much time for socializing outside of family and creating. Time seems to have been spent either working or taking care of my family.
Hi friend, I miss you, I’m sorry I flaked.
Oh, hey, did I tell you about all that I created this year?
Web sites: this doesn’t count all the web sites I merely “worked on” or email campaigns sent. In no particular order, all the web sites I designed and coded.

Other noteworthy client projects included work for RobertOatley.com, AdlerFels.com, www.ravenswood-wine.com, Delgadillo Cellars, Flora Springs and digg.com.
While my husband worked full-time, I raised one daughter through her first year while actually growing the brains and organs of another baby. Physically it was a huge challenge, the sleep deprivation with tending daughter number one, the lack of energy from growing daughter number two.
But I did it. One spirited daughter made it all the way through her first year and just started preschool.
One started her first year.
Traveling included attending SXSW and BlogHer and getting Nora Lea baptized in my parents’ church.
Through the Broad Summit, I threw my first conference. A bad ass conference. For attendees and sponsors, it was an unmitigated success.
Featured in Food and Wine magazine, my little cheese club is hitting the big time.
Through all of this, I planned weekly bocce themes for our team and managed to make it out there almost every week. I even organized and pulled off a bocce chili cookoff.
I gave birth to Dottie without the use of drugs and realized that physically, I really can do anything.
How did I do all of that?
(I’m a little confused. Really, how did I do all of that?)
How did I fit all of that socializing, networking and project completion into one short year?
(That woman is amazing.
That woman is me.
I just amazed myself.)
Resolutions for 2010?
– This year I resolve to participate in outstanding self-care. I plan to shower myself with all the mani-pedis, body lotions, exercise, hair masks, high-end mascaras, massages, meditation, self-loving, hair-coloring and tooth whitening that I can afford.
– This year I resolve to document my kids’ lives as thoroughly as practical.
- This year I resolve to give my daughters and my husband my full attention (not split between Blackberry, television, book or magazine).
Also, floss better.
Resolvations 2009

I love this time of year. Like Spring, a fresh school year and my birthday, there’s that feeling of new beginnings.
There’s the feeling that your life can change toward perfection
if only you change it.
Last year was a biggie.
Without drugs, I gave birth to a baby.
A totally chill baby.
I mean I worked too. I launched roughly 20 new web sites.
I completed a series of posters.
I paid off my credit cards.
I suffered a miserable sleep-deprived breakdown.
We threw many, many parties.
We brought our bocce team to the playoffs.
We also mastered breastfeeding, sleep scheduling and making falafel.
During our fifth (FIFTH) year of marriage, James and I grew even closer.
Upon my sister’s moving back from Australia, she and I became even closer.
My mom and I couldn’t be any closer without it being a little strange.
I met new friends in town and new cool clients.
I’m hoping to do a few things during 2009:
Make new friends.
Make more time for existing friends.
Yeah, that’s about it.
I have so many projects ahead of me, so much opportunity, I get a little overwhelmed.
Two thousand nine is going to be great, I can feel it.
